Local officer training

Local officer training is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
GCIU Pres. George Tedeschi announced new week-long officer training programs to train local
officers to better equip them to serve their members. The classes are one of the Tedeschi
administration's priorities to provide up-to-date training for all local officers.
The first training session is scheduled for the week of Oct. 15 at the George Meany Center for
Labor Studies in Silver Spring, Md. Classes will include contract negotiations, grievance and
arbitrations, labor law, office procedures, how to run a GCIU local union, and other topics.
The International will pick up the cost of rooms and meals. The local will be responsible for lost
wages, transportation, and incidental costs.
The first session is limited to 30 members.
