Scholarship applications due
in February
International Secy.-Treas. Gerald H. Deneau reminds GCIU families
that applications for the A.J. DeAndrade Scholarship must be postmarked no later than Feb. 15,
2000.
The DeAndrade Scholarship Fund offers 10 scholarships of $2,000 each with two scholarships
awarded in each of five regions in the United States and Canada. The program is open to sons,
daughters, stepsons, stepdaughters, and legally adopted children of GCIU members who have had
continuous membership for at least one year prior to Oct. 1.
To be eligible, an applicant must be a high school senior who will graduate in January or June of
2000 or a recent high school graduate who, by Sept. 1, will not have completed more than
one-half year of college. Other requirements are stated on the front of the application form.
Previous scholarship winners are not eligible to apply. Applications must be signed by an elected
officer of the parent's local union.
