OSHA complaint
forms
available on the web
Workers with safety and health problems on their jobs now have an
easy way to file a complaint with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration by
using the World Wide Web.
The new Worker's Page on OSHA's website provides
on-line complaint forms and information on worker safety and health rights.
OSHA chief Charles N. Jeffress said the new web page will be a tool for workers to speed an
OSHA response to their problems.
"Workers play a vital role in identifying workplace hazards," Jeffress said. "Employee complaints
are one very important way of directing OSHA inspectors to sites where serious hazards exist."
Jeffress said about 50 percent of the 50,000 complaints from workers that OSHA receives every
year lead to further investigations.
To preserve privacy, Jeffress suggests that workers use their home or library computers to file
on-line complaints rather than workplace computers that may be monitored by employers.
