GCIU mourns child's death
Julien Adam Fleming, the grandson of retired GCIU office manager
Charles C. Price Sr., died Nov. 29, 2000, following a long fight against gangliosidosis type II
disease. He was six years old.
Julien had been featured in the July-August 1997 and September 1998 issues of the Graphic
Communicator. Those articles produced an outpouring of support for his parents, Donna and
Clark Fleming, to help them with high medical costs. The rare gene mutation that lies behind
gangliosidosis type II caused Julien to regress to infancy when he was 17 months old and to
require round-the-clock care.
Speaking on behalf of the International officers, General Board, and staff, GCIU Secy.-Treas.
Gerald H. Deneau said: "Our heartfelt condolences go out to Charles, his wife Doris, daughter
Donna, and son-in-law Clark. We know what a struggle of love it was for them and how bravely
they stood up to it."
Cards of condolence may be sent to Charles and Doris Price at 13211 Pennerview Lane, Fairfax,
Va. 22033.
