She received the award to help her continue her education in computer sciences to qualify her for a career in theatrical set design and animation. A member of the National Honor Society and a graduate in the top 10 percent of her class, Amanda was also active in community theater and worked in many productions during her high school years. She was also voted Most Valuable Player on her school's volleyball team. She wants to blend her love of theater with computer science to eventually work on animated set design on stage. "I am inspired by the vision of merging art with technology for a living," she said. The Union Plus Scholarship Program is funded by Union Privilege and Household Credit, which offers the Union Plus credit card to union members and their families. Since 1992, the program has helped hundreds of sons and daughters of union members to continue their education.
