New York 447S negotiates 'first' Astrid/United pact

After many months and numerous bargaining sessions on the heels of an organizing victory, New York 447S leaders negotiated a first contract with Astrid/United Offset Co. in New York City.

With the assistance of GCIU Vice Pres. David Grabhorn, Astrid employees ramified a three-year agreement by a 51 to 5 vote.

Local 447S Pres. John Hall, "elated" with the results, praised Grabhorn for his successful efforts. Hall thanked the new GCIU members for their patience during the negotiations.

Hall said a highlight of the new agreement was that members start participating in the GCIU Inter-Local Pension Fund.

Hall offered special thanks to negotiating committee members Copeland Patterson, Bhoopnarine Ramsarann, and Michael Ramos for helping achieve a new contract covering 82 employees.
