The GCIU is preparing its first issue of Stewards News, which is designed to help shop stewards and chapel chairpersons with issues related to their jobs as contract enforcers and union builders.

GCIU Vice Pres. Edward J. Toff, who directs education activities for the General Board, is asking local union officers and shop stewards to share with other GCIU locals interesting contract-related experiences for possible inclusion in the steward newsletter.

"Sharing the problems and solutions related to grievances, arbitrations, and other shop issues may help other GCIU local unions and stewards that find themselves in similar situations," Toff said.

Descriptions of cases should include the local's number and location; the submitting officer's or shop steward's name and position; and as many specific details as possible about the case covering the problem, actions, and outcome. It isn't necessary to provide the names of the members involved in the case.
