Washington 72C members brave the winter cold to keep the unfair labor practice strike line
strong at IPI Graphics Inc. in Upper Marlboro, Md. The local reports that the National Labor
Relations Board's nine charges against the company will be presented to an administrative law
judge in March. The NLRB has charged the company with breaking just about every labor law on
the books, including threatening employees with dismissal for supporting the union, attempting to
negotiate individually with workers, offering pay increases to employees as an incentive to cross
the picket line, and failure to bargain in good faith. The local praised its members for their strong
support of a $5 weekly assessment for the local defense fund and members at the Mt. Vernon
Printing Co. who donated their Christmas gift certificates from their company to the strikers in a
show of support for the cause of decent health insurance coverage.
