Detroit 2-289M turned its December 2003 membership meeting into a holiday party and a
celebration of the local's retirees.
In addition to a presentation on the Inter-Local Pension Fund (ILPF) by Chairman John
Agenbroad, the 276 people attending the meeting enjoyed the presentation of 108 service pins.
The local mailed out another 499 service pins.
Local 2-289M Exec. Vice Pres. Steve Nobles said that, of the many thank yous received for
the pins, was a message from Biddie Christian. The 88-year-old member, who received a 60-year
pin, lives in West Virginia with her sister Tessie Lucas. She asked that the local send a pin to
Tessie, who is 95 years old and worked in the bindery in Huntington. Nobles thanked GCIU Data
Processing Director Bonnie Lindsley for her research on Tessie that resulted in Tessie receiving
her 55-year pin before Tessie went to the hospital for surgery.
