After serving in the U.S. Army, Robinson began his career in 1962 at an International Printing Pressmen and Assistants' Union shop and worked in rotogravure, flexographic, and offset letterpress printing for 22 years. Robinson served Neenah-Menasha Local 298 (now Local 77P) 10 years as shop steward, 10 years as organizer, eight years as vice president, and three years as president. He was in charge of organizing efforts and assisted in organizing drives for the duration of his Local 298 career. Robinson was appointed an International organizer in 1982. He is continuing to assist with organizing projects although he retired from the GCIU Organizing Department. Robinson told the Graphic Communicator: "Organizing is the greatest way to take on companies and correct what companies are doing to their employees. I've enjoyed organizing and love all aspects of organizing. It's the best job I could have. I met a lot of great people over the years. I've had a good career, and the [International] union has been good to me." With retirement, Robinson said he plans to spend more time with his wife EyVonne, four children, and nine grandchildren, as well as scuba dive, golf, and travel between his homes in Wisconsin and Florida. The GCC/IBT General Board adopted a resolution citing Robinson for his "proven . . . strong commitment to helping working men and women in the printing and paper products industry." Board members saluted Robinson "for his love of union and dedicating his skills to improving the lives of working men and women and helping to build the union." The resolution concluded by officers and board members wishing Robinson and his wife EyVonne the "long, healthful, and enjoyable retirement that they deserve."
