Foreign Bud bottles shatter U.S. jobs

The Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union (GMP) is urging union families to protest Anheuser-Busch's plan to import beer bottles from Mexico.

Anheuser-Busch, the maker of the popular Budweiser and Michelob beers, subcontracted to import beer bottles from a plant in Mexicali, Mexico, where workers reportedly earn between $7 and $11 a day. According to the GMP, the imported bottles will supply the company's three California breweries.

GMP members rallied outside a San Diego, Calif., area beer distributor recently to "Demand American Beer in American Bottles."

The GMP is asking union families to call Anheuser-Busch at 1-800-342-5283 and register their preference for American-made bottles.
