Memorabilia

By John W. Dopp
Marco Island, Fla.

Pretty soon, there won't be anyone left who will even remember who the old IPP&AU [International Printing Pressmen's & Assistants Union] was.

My present local in Chicago [3M] is all merged now [with 458M], and this item [1903 badge] wouldn't mean much to my kids. As it is 100 years old (antique), it should be valuable and placed on the wall of our International union.

Editor's note: GCIU Pres. George Tedeschi, to whom Brother Dopp gave the badge, thanked Brother Dopp for his "wonderful generosity in giving the badge to the GCIU. The badge is an item to be treasured because of its link to our proud heritage. We will have the badge framed and displayed in the president's office. It is clearly important that we remember our roots and make that information available for generations to come."
